42 years Experience!
Larry Hendershot has been buliding engines and racing "anything with 2 and 4 wheels" for 41 years.
Mid 60s...built and raced mini bikes.
Late 60s and 70s…built 2 stroke motorcycle engines. Larry raced Husqvarna, Kawasaki, and Bultacos in hare scrambles, motocross, enduros, and hill climbs.
70s and 80s…built and raced go-carts with 2 and 4 cycle engines with his son, Larry Michael. Larry Michael began racing go-carts with his dad at the age of 8. They traveled and raced together in Ohio and West Virginia for three years.
Mid-80s…purchased his first ATV. For the last 26 years, Larry has built and repaired ATV engines for family and for friends.
2002...Larry Michael raced the GNC in the 4 stroke A Class. He rode a Houser race chassis with an YZF 440 engine. He also raced the East Coast MX ATV Series and won the Pro-division. Larry followed the Outlaw Circuit with his son and served as crew chief.
2003…Larry Michael won many local motocross races and placed third at Loretta Lynns in A Class.
2004…Larry Michael was sponsored by HAAS Honda and raced the National Motocross GNC. He rode a 2004 Honda 450R. Larry continued to follow his son and serve as his crew chief.
2004…his passion for ATV dirt drags began. Larry started racing in local ATV drag races sponsored by the Mineral Wells ATV Club in the Mid-Ohio Valley. He built his first drag engine and the rest is history. He has built bikes for his son, granddaughter, niece, and friends.
2005…joined the Mineral Wells ATV Club and is an active member. Currently, Larry serves as chairman of the track side engine tech committee.
2007…Larry retired and fulfilled a lifelong dream of opening his own performance repair/service shop. Larry is dedicated to speed and to pleasure riding.
2008…expanded parts manufacturing and ventured into custom chassis fabrication including single “A” arms and swing arms with wheelie bar drag links for stock and drag chassis. Larry pioneered his own aluminum wheelie bars with quick detach aluminum wheelie bars as well as chromemoly. Served as Tech Supervisor for the National Hillclimb Amateur Championship at Waterford, Ohio.
2009…sponsored Braden Henthorn, GNCC rider, School Boy class. Larry served as chief mechanic building and setting up two GNCC quads. Designed and fabricated cross country swing arm for the national quad. Larry traveled with Braden to the GNCC and Extreme Dirt Series races to serve as his pit mechanic.
Larry also served at President of the Mineral Wells ATV Drag Racing Club for 2009; while continuing to serve on the Tech Committee for the club.
2010…was an exciting year for Hendershot Racing. Larry Michael came out of “motocross racing retirement” and joined with dad to form a father-son side-by-side racing team in the GNCC Pro Open Unlimited UTV class. Father and son designed and built an HP custom Polaris RZR. Larry Michael worked hard to secure sponsorship support for the 2010 RZR Project. Several major sponsors joined us in our new venture. Team Hendershot won 8th place overall for the 2010 GNCC racing season.
2010 GNCC Riders included Braden Henthorn and Brycen Neal. These riders finished 1st and 3rd respectively in the Schoolboy A/B Class.
2011….is expected to be another exciting year for Hendershot Racing. Father and son have changed and upgraded their Polaris RZR. This year Hendershot Racing welcomes Don Wood Polaris as a major sponsor for the 2011 racing season. 2011 GNCC Riders include Darcy Johnson, Kyle Ahart, Braden Henthorn, Brycen Neal, Andrew Davis, John Johnson, Richard Motch (3er), and Eric Anderson.
